Tia Hellebaut’s success explained in new book
How is it that while Blanka Vlasic, the absolute favourite for the Olympic high jump, stayed pinned to the ground when it finally came down to it, Tia Hellebaut had the mental strength to go for Olympic gold? How is it that the same Hellebaut seemingly carried the burden of being Belgium’s great hope for medals without effort?
Can a manager faced with crisis, learn from Tia Hellebaut’s discipline and tactics? Can a manager profit from Tia Hellebaut’s training techniques in guiding his employees? Can we help ourselves to perform more efficiently in our job by concentrating on what truly matters leaving pointless details behind. These questions and many others are answered in a new book Hoe hoog Leg Ik De Lat? – Haal Het Beste Uit Jezelf (available only in Dutch and French.)
It’s not the first time a non-fiction book connects sports, daily life and work. Nor is it the first time a sports coach and a manager join forces in writing a book. It is however, the first time, a book like this penetrates the world of sport this deeply, thoroughly analysing the link between achievements in sports and personal successes. The common thread throughout the book is Tia Hellebaut’s personal experience at crucial moments in her sports career: the world championship in Japan with the one drawback after the other, the spectacular world title in the indoor pentathlon and last but not least Olympic gold in Beijing. These very candid ‘Tia Tapes’ form the basis for dozens of concrete tips and analyses. This not only allows for easy reading, but also makes the book a very useful learning tool for entrepreneurs, employees, parents and couples. This way Hoe hoog Leg Ik De Lat? – Haal Het Beste Uit Jezelf finds the perfect balance between lifestyle and management literature, having publisher Lannoo keep it in the lifestyle section rather than among management titles.
